The mission of Family and Consumer Sciences is to strengthen individuals, families, and communities through education

We strive to be recognized as a leader for enhancing the quality of life for individuals, families and communities through research, education, and outreach.

Our strategic plan has identified the following target issues:

  • Life cycle stages including child care, parenting, family lfie, and adult development and aging
  • Nutrition and food safety
  • Money Management
  • Life Balance including jobs, families and health

In Butler County, we focus on these issues with a diverse programming approach.  We provide two nutrition programs, the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and the Family Nutrition Program (FNP).  In partnership with the Butler County Childrens Service Board, we coordinate the Development of Living Skolls program, an in-home education program for families.

In addition to these programs, we offer classes and programs on other FCS-related topics.  Please contact us to plan an educational program to suit your needs.  In the past, we have offered programs, such as:

Our audiences have been as diverse as our programming efforts.  We have provided programs for teachers, parents, youth, church organizations, child care providers, adults recovering from drug dependency, schools, and local social service agencies like Childrens Services Board, MRDD, Head Start, Department of Job and Family Services, and Family and Children First Council.
