Tri-State Diversity Conference
Learning Today: Stronger Tomorrow, the 6th annual Tri-State Diversity Conference is scheduled for February 4 and 5, 2010 at the Marriott Hotel, Cincinnati Airport location in Hebron, Kentucky.
The goal of the conference is to network and link resources to help integrate diversity into programs, policies and practices for creating community well-being. In 2009, over 250 people attend the conference and walked away with a spring in their step feeling refreshed and renewed by the excellent speakers, siminars, and networking that took place.
The conference is designed for Extension personnel; schools; social marekters; health and social service professionals; employers and supervisors; human resource staff; or anyone who wants to empower a greater cultureal understanding within their communities.
The keynote speaker for 2010 is James A. Banks from Seattle, Washington whose topic is Diversity in America: Challenges and opprotunities for education citizens in a global age. Professor Banks has been a researcher and leader in efforts to increase educational equality for students for more than three decades. He has pursued questions realted to education and social justice in more than 100 journal articles and 20 books.
The concurrent sessions being offered this year will challenge participants to look outside their box and appreciate the world around them which seems to be getting smaller each day. Coming back by popular demand are the talking circles that give participants an opportunity to interact with others.
