Middletown Community Center Program
Many parents and youth are likely counting the days to the end of the school year. For most youth the school year ends the last week of May. This week I focus my article on my first program in Butler County. The program is called the Career Readiness Skills Preparatory Academy. I developed the program around three areas: (1) 4-H orientation, (2) youth financial literacy, and (3) public speaking. Many of the youth were unaware of the 4-H program and the wonderful opportunities that the program offers for youth ages 5 to 19. During the month of April the sessions focused on 4-H orientation and public speaking. For the month of May the weekly sessions will focus on financial literacy and public speaking. The sessions meet from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The dates for the May sessions include the 9th, 15th, 23rd, and the 30th. There is no registration cost. All that is needed is a desire to learn.

The Benefits of 4-H Summer Camp
This morning on my way into work I heard my first summer camp promotion on the radio. As many youth returned to school from spring break this week many parents may be wondering about summer plans for their youth once the last class bell rings in about eight weeks. Yes parents in eight short weeks your kids will be out of school for the summer. Some parents might have made plans for their kids already for the summer. But for parents in general looking for a great summer activity that has a long and rich history look no further than 4-H summer camp to keep your kids engaged in experimental learning activities that will allow their minds to absorb more information, have fun and make their summer one they won’t soon forget.
