Recruiting dairy farms to participate in a research study focused on heat stress and cow comfort. This project builds on a similar study conducted in California, where on-farm assessments provided valuable insights that shaped future research—including findings that showed effective cow cooling could be achieved with up to 65% less water!
The goal in the Midwest is to evaluate how current heat abatement strategies perform in this climate. I hope the findings will help refine practical, locally adapted recommendations and guide my future extension programming.
